After a long standing face-off with Bollywood over showing smoking on screen, health minister A Ramadoss has roped in John Abraham to promote his anti-smoking campaign. Cricketer MS Dhoni is also part the initiative, he says. We were thinking of some sports personalities, like Sachin Tendulkar. A lot of them want to be part of it too... In fact, the entire cricket team wants to take part in the anti-tobacco campaign.
Dhoni was very enthusiastic. Hes appearing in one of the advertisements; itll come out soon. A lot of actors including John Abraham also will join in. Its not on air yet, but they are starting to build this campaign.
The effort is to target the youth, he says. Today Dhoni is a star. In fact, I wanted to bring in Leander Paes, Viswanathan Anand, Bindra, Saina and Sania in one campaign the entire youth fraternity saying that smoking is bad. Its big and ambitious and I know itll take time to pull it off, but it will be huge and we are trying to do it, he explains.
